Tech News:

Are you worried about internet security, using your credit card online, or doing your banking online?

Should you be worried about your personal security online? Yes. But there are simple ways to protect yourself.

Dialup modem
If you are using a dial up connection you are pretty safe. Your major concern will be other users on the same computer you are using, making sure your cookies are deleted, and updating your antivirus programs. If you are using a public computer you should be sure to shut the computer down when you are finished using it and make sure to delete the internet history(explained later). Next you need to make sure that as soon as you get onto the computer that you delete all cookies. Sometimes cookies can be dangerous and give hackers the opportunity to get your passwords and other important information. To delete your cookies and internet history go to->
1. open up internet explorer
2. go to tools->
3. internet options->
4. now delete cookies, files, and clear history

The last thing that you need to do to protect yourself is to make sure that you have an anti virus program running and that it is up-to-date. These simple steps will help keep hackers away while keeping you worry free.

Broadband(high speed): Cable, DSL, T1, T3

I suggest that you read the dial up section and follow those steps and then continue on with this section. If you have a broadband connection and you have followed the steps from above then you have only one thing to do: Get a firewall. A firewall will block other users(hackers) from gaining access to your computer. Firewalls can be purchased for fairly low prices under 50$. You can also find them for free on the internet. After your firewall is installed your computer is safe. Hackers will not try to break in. You may now do your online banking use your credit cards to shop online.
